DVD Users Guide


note_researchTeacher’s Guide to Using the First Note™ DVD

General Overview:

  • The DVD includes all 4 Year-One lessons.
  • It is easy to use in conjunction with the Teacher Manual. You don’t have to know how to sing, dance or play an instrument to facilitate First Note.
  • Lessons follow the same format each week.
  • The DVD is linked so you can easily maneuver around.

Lesson Format:

  • Introduction
  • Review Activity or Review Questions from the previous lesson.
  • Lesson on new topic
  • Activity to reinforce lesson
  • More information on new lesson
  • Another reinforcing activity…
  • Review Questions on the lesson just learned (this is always an option and can be saved for another day).

Each Lesson Guide Provides:

  • What the students will need (handouts, coloring pencils, instruments…) for each activity.
  • What the teacher needs to do to facilitate each activity, (handout worksheets, which instruments you’ll be using…).
  • Details on what the teacher needs to do to facilitate the lesson and make it as smooth possible.
  • These are identified by the symbol.pointup
  • Pointers to pitfalls, common mistakes students make.stop
  • These are identified by the symbol.

When you turn on the DVD:

  • The graphic intro is the first thing to come up every time. The music has a great beat so the kids can get up and dance.
  • Next up, the Main Menu. Use the arrow keys on the DVD or the remote control to select what group of lessons you want.
  • Next up, the secondary menu where you can choose a specific lesson or review. Use the arrow keys on the DVD or the remote control to select the specific lesson or review you want.
  • At any time, you can press “menu” and be taken back to the Main Menu.
