First Note Program Outline

First Note is a two year curriculum for Kindergartners and 1st Graders.

First Note is 15-20 minutes, once or twice each week.

First Note is delivered during the school day so that all children are given the benefits of learning through music.

First Note is priced per classroom, as schools pay the direct program costs only.

First Note includes the following resources and equipment for each teacher:

• Curriculum Manual complete with two years of lessons, handouts and worksheets, tools for assessment and optional cross-curricular activities to enhance a particular subject area.
• Interactive DVD with all year one lessons and reviews
• DVD player
• Music Poem/Song CD
• Supplementary Workbook (tentative)
• A Music Rules Board
• Drum sets (4) for use by entire class
• A personal music mentor assigned who sends weekly email updates with tips and hints on how to successfully implement First Note. Mentors are also available by phone and email for questions.
• Teacher Training delivered prior to start of the program. Teachers learn why music is such a powerful learning tool, how music relates to almost every other subject they teach.
• Access to the private side of the CMF website. This is an online community for teachers to share and learn about music as a learning tool.
• Online music composition software for all First Note students and teachers (year 2 only)
• Music kits provided to each student as theirs to keep
